I highly recommend “Hebrew For Beginners” by Michael Rose.

I recommend it especially for adults that want to learn to read and write Hebrew, and tthat want to know what’s going on in the news.

I found the list of one hundred most frequent Hebrew words especially useful, and also the second list of two hundred most frequent words. Also, the CD is very clear and useful for learning the right pronunciation of the Hebrew language.

If you transfer the CD onto an MP3 player you will be able to listen while you travel, and in that way memorize a lot of vocabulary.
