This book analyzes the approach to Hudson Tayler’s interpretation of the Bible and its importance for the China Inland Mission it has established. This approach sheds new light on the hitherto unexplored area of Hudson Tayler’s spirituality. In addition, this dissertation provides an instructive example of how some Protestant-Evangelical movements responded to the increasing criticism of the Bible and the controversy of eternal damnation, which emerged in the late 19th century in the China Inland Mission.Chris Wigram was part of OM Ships. He studied Theology and Biblical Interpretation at the London School of Theology. From 1988-198 he worked for OMF International (UK) in the Philippines. He is currently the national president of OMF International (UK).

Dit boek analyseert de benadering van Hudson Taylers interpretatie van de bijbel en het belang daarvan voor de door hem opgerichte China Inland Mission. Met deze benadering wordt nieuw licht geworpen op het tot dusver onontgonnen gebied van de spiritualiteit van Hudson Tayler. Daarnaast geeft deze dissertatie een instructief voorbeeld van de wijze waarop door sommige protestants-evangelische bewegingen gereageerd werd op de toenemende kritiek op de bijbel en op het twistpunt van de eeuwige verdoemenis, die eind 19e eeuw de kop opstaken in de China Inland Mission.Chris Wigram maakte deel uit van OM Ships. Hij studeerde Theologie en Bijbelse Interpretatie aan de Londense School voor Theologie. Van 1988-198 werkte hij voor OMF Internationaal (UK) op de Filippijnen. Op dit moment is hij nationaal voorzitter van OMF Internationaal (UK).
