Biography:
Dag Hjalmar Agne Carl Hammarskjöld (1905-1961) was a Swedish diplomat. He was Secretary-General of the United Nations from April 10, 1953 to September 18, 1961, when he died as a result of a plane crash during his peacekeeping mission in Congo. Hammarskjöld was posthumously awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1961.
